Environmental Actions

We are uniquely positioned to tackle our planet’s biggest environmental challenges.

We’re increasing energy efficiency, reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions, and improving water management.

Addressing Climate Change

We met and surpassed our 2020 emissions reduction targets two years early. By 2030, we aim to reduce our customer carbon footprint by 1 gigaton and go carbon neutral in our operations.

Wind Turbine

Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Pollutant Emissions & Refrigerants

We’ve reduced greenhouse gas emissions intensity of our operations by 50% since our 2013 baseline, while total energy efficiency has increased 27%.

Solar Panels on Truck

Our efforts to increase our operational efficiency earned recognition by the Alliance to Save Energy as the 2019 Star of Doubling Down on Energy Efficiency.

Product Life Cycle

Many of our products are built to operate for 15 to 20 years, and we set a 2030 goal to design systems for circularity.

Conveyor belts

When sourcing materials for our products, we’ve developed a supply-chain transparency model that focuses on sustainability.
Water Plant

We’ve reduced overall water use at sites located in water-stress regions by 39% since 2013, and are committed to be water net-positive by 2030.

Waste Pickup

27 of our manufacturing sites achieved zero waste to landfill in 2019, and we committed to zero waste to landfill company-wide by 2030.

We are working to lower our environmental impact as a company, our EcoWise™ product portfolio is a part of how we will accomplish this.

In our innovative workplace, it’s about doing what is right for the environment — and improving quality of life.

We’re focusing on reducing greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions across our business portfolio. Our innovations to combat climate change include:

The Gigaton Challenge

We’re reducing one gigaton – one billion metric tons – of carbon emissions (CO2e) from our customers’ footprint by 2030. Join us

How We'll Do It

We’re innovating clean technologies, advancing system level energy-efficiency, reducing global food loss and transitioning to next-generation refrigerants.
