Beth Finds Inspiration and Strength in Supporting Others
Beth Wehrer’s story shows how navigating challenges with empathy can build deeper connections and drive positive change at work and beyond.
At Trane Technologies, our purpose is to boldly challenge what is possible for a sustainable world. We also believe that every role in the company can make a positive impact. For Beth Wehrer, who has spent more than 25 years growing her career at Trane Technologies, the heart of that impact has always been the people.
My name is Beth Wehrer. I'm an HR leader focused on supervisor development at Trane Technologies. I work out in our plants understanding what our supervisors and other operations folks need to continue to learn and grow and develop. What I love about my job is the people I get to work with folks in our production facilities all across the Americas region. It's just a really fun job to be out where the product actually gets made and helping the people that are making it. I felt really supported through my career journey. Just in the mentors that I've had, the leaders that we have at the company, they're really willing to take a chance on someone that maybe doesn't have the same educational background or a educational background. From a leadership perspective, I feel like our executive leadership team, they set the tone for supportive environment at our company and you see that all the way through the organization. From a hidden disability perspective, for me personally, I see it through my boys. They both have ADHD and so as a parent, I see that it never occurred to me that I was going to have one, that I was going to have a condition that resulted in the loss of hearing. I also have a condition that's called Meniere's disease. It results in severe Vertigo. The support I got from my manager, his manager was just amazing. I have coworkers just drop what they're doing and come and say, what, what can I do to help you? What, what do you need? So when I think about our partnership with Hidden Disabilities, I'm so excited because it gives us an opportunity to help people that might not be comfortable openly talking about whatever situation they have going on. I think that as a company, we are elevating ourselves to say that we welcome people with disabilities to know that there are companies like ours out there that put their employees 1st and care about their employees in such a meaningful way that it's it's part of the DNA of the company, It's part of the culture and what we do. We're making an impact and a difference. To be even just a little piece of that is really powerful.
Opportunities that inspire growth
Beth began her journey with Trane Technologies in a project management role supporting operational excellence. Over time, her path evolved, and today she serves as a human resources (HR) leader focused on supervisor development.
Beth spends much of her time in manufacturing plants talking to employees and gaining an understanding of what they need to grow in their positions. She draws inspiration from what she sees each day. “Everyone is great to work with. It feels like we're all working toward a common goal,” she shared.
Beth says she has felt supported throughout her own career and appreciates the leaders who have encouraged her growth, even in those roles where she did not have a traditional background. She believes her willingness to learn and work hard has helped her continue to grow with the company.
Navigating the unexpected
For many years, Beth understood hidden disabilities through the lens of a parent. Both of her sons have attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). One also lives with dyslexia, and the other is on the autism spectrum. Supporting them shaped her understanding of structure, encouragement and advocacy.
That perspective deepened about a year ago when Beth began experiencing unexpected hearing loss. She was eventually diagnosed with Meniere’s disease, a condition that affects hearing and can cause sudden, severe vertigo. The experience was overwhelming at first. Beth remembers the stress, the uncertainty and even a sense of embarrassment.
When a vertigo attack prevented her from traveling for work, the compassion and flexibility shown by her team and manager left a lasting impression. “I feel like our executive leadership team sets the tone for a supportive environment at our company, and you see that all the way through the organization,” Beth shared.
Advancing visibility and belonging
When Trane Technologies launched the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, Beth knew she wanted to get involved. She had previously participated in several business resource groups and was eager to help others feel supported, raise awareness and remind people they are not alone.
Uplifting one another is a big piece of our culture at Trane. If anyone is ever in need of something, there are people who can help them.

“It’s important we leave the world better than we found it,” she says. “To know we are making that kind of an impact and a difference, even in a small way, is really powerful.”
At Trane Technologies, Beth found a workplace that values understanding, encourages growth and supports meaningful change. For her, it’s more than a job, it’s a place where she belongs.
