Vice President, Engineering
Randal (Randy) Newton is vice president of engineering of Trane Technologies. In this role, Randy oversees all Engineering and Technology Centers and provides strategic oversight to centers of excellence for critical engineering components and systems.
Since joining the company in 1979, Randy has held a variety of engineering, product planning, product management and operations leadership roles. Prior to his current role, Randy was vice president of enterprise engineering, leading four global Engineering and Technology Centers in China, India and Czech Republic. Additionally, he has been a long-time leader of the Refrigerant Technology and Strategy team earning him invitations to participate in global conferences and dialogs on energy efficiency, refrigerant technology and sustainable development.
Randy is the sponsor of our Asian Employee Resource group, sponsors our women engineering Accelerated Development Program (ADP) quarterly learning forum, and is an ongoing advisor for several engineering ADPs. Additionally, Randy serves as a member of infrastructure and education-outcomes committees for the Stillwater Minnesota School District. Born and raised in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the home of Trane, Randy is a second generation Trane engineer.
Randy received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He also holds an MBA from the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and is a long time member of ASHRAE.
